ROSENDALE, N.Y. -- The Rosendale Earthfest and Expo at the Rosendale Recreation Center promotes locally grown food.
The expo was held in conjunction with the town's farmers market. This year, the theme was 'food for thought', which focused on spreading information about the benefits of locally-grown food. Organizers hoped to teach community members how to maintain the environment and support the area they live in.
Some of the attractions included a food-tasting, live music, children’s activities, a petting zoo, and educational exhibits on environmental issues.
Chair of the Rosendale Environmental Commission, Jennifer Metzger says the event is great for the community to come together and support one another.
Jennifer Metzger, Chair of Rosendale Earthfest said, “We really want to celebrate this institution, it's great in so many ways. it's great for our community, community building, it's a place for people to come together to meet, to buy their fresh produce for the week, and to support our local agriculture and local economy."
The Earthfest Expo began in 2007. It is the Environmental Commissions largest awareness raising event.
