NORTH GREENBUSH, N.Y. -- Local law enforcers and emergency personnel took some time out to support a cause for paws on Sunday.

Local businesses and police and fire departments took to the field for the second annual softball tournament held by the North Greenbush Police Department.

All of the money raised goes towards the K-9 Emma Fund.

Officers said the North Greenbush Police Department had not had a K-9 unit since they lost Emma in 2008. They are working hard to raise funds for a K-9 officer in order to help better serve the community.

"Crime prevention is one of the biggest keys for police K-9. K-9's also assist with tracking lost people, missing people, finding narcotics, criminal apprehension. Just the presence of police K-9 actually helps a lot," said Tai Slagen, North Greenbush Police Officer.
