ALBANY, N.Y. -- A teen was hit by a car on the 600 block of Third Street in Albany Monday afternoon.

Police say the 16-year-old male was playing on the sidewalk when he ran into the road. The driver tried to avoid him, but was unsuccessful.

The teen was taken to Albany Medical Center with a head injury and is in stable condition. The driver was not ticketed.

Third Street had to be closed between Ontario and North Manning Boulevard for accident reconstruction.
