SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Saratoga Springs police arrested an 18-year-old who they say attacked a 67-year-old woman. It happened just before 4 a.m. Tuesday near Congress Street and South Franklin Street.

Police say the victim was sitting in her car when Antonio Lopez-Bautista pulled her out of the vehicle and attacked her. Police say he dragged her on the sidewalk and tried to pull her to an isolated area. They say he punched and kicked her repeatedly as the victim yelled for help and tried to defend herself.

Police say they received a call for a domestic incident and when they arrived, Lopez-Bautista took off. He was later found hiding in bushes a few buildings away. He was arrested and charged with attempted kidnapping, attempted rape, assault, and criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation.

Police also say Lopez-Bautista is in the country illegally. He was arraigned and sent to Saratoga County Jail.

The victim was taken to the hospital to be treated and has since been released.
