COLONIE, N.Y. -- Police in Colonie are trying to find the driver responsible for a fatal hit and run at New Karner Road and Central Avenue.

Police were called to the scene just after 9 p.m. on Monday. They say when they arrived, they found a man lying in the middle of Central Avenue. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say one witness told them the driver was traveling towards Albany in a green, older model, four door car.

Police say they are checking area surveillance video and have contacted other nearby police departments to help with the investigation. The number to contact police is 783-2744.
