SARATOGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- The 2012 SPAC season gets off to a running start Sunday in Saratoga Springs with the third annual Rock and Run 5K race.
The family friendly event features a certified 5K run through the Spa State Park for adults, a 1K race for kids, and a free post-race party for the community. Live bands played along the race route, and the top male and female finishers were awarded SPAC tickets.
Proceeds from the rock and run will go to SPAC’s Vivienne Anderson Program - an initiative that provides underserved children with the opportunity to attend classical performances.
Event co-chair Hilary Munson said the event saw a record number of runners this year, with about 1,100 adults participating in the 5K and over 150 kids running in the 1K.
