ULSTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- People tear up the track to raise money for the American Cancer Society.
Relay for Life is celebrating its 10th year in Saugerties at the Kiwanis Ice Skating Rink. The event celebrates the lives of people who have battled cancer, remembers lost loved ones, and raises awareness about the disease.
Randy Turner, the Program Director of WBPM 92.9 said, “Just before we started promoting this year's relay for life, we actually found out that someone on our staff had cancer. That changed the dynamic of the event for us. It certainly made it very personal. and that made it much more important for us to be part of this, and to show our support towards the fight against cancer and try to find a cure, and that's what all these people here today are working towards. It’s a team effort."
Event organizers hoped to raise $58,000 at the event.
