PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Hundreds packed downtown North Street in Pittsfield for the season's first Third Thursdays celebration.
Local youth groups performed live music as locals crowded downtown for the annual event.
Each third Thursday of the month through October, local businesses will stay open late as a push to get people shopping downtown. Venders with food, clothing and other goods will also be on hand for the summer celebration.
People we spoke with say it's important to explore what they city's downtown has to offer.
"Just something to do in Pittsfield. It's up and coming and it's the first one, so it's got to be big," Pittsfield resident Bryan House said.
"Up the community, you know. It’s been pretty bad, I’ve heard, but we're trying to make it better," said Pittsfield resident Cameron Kazimierczak.
The next Third Thursday will take place in June.
