RENSSELAER COUNTY, N.Y. -- A bear that spent all day Wednesday in a tree in North Greenbush has been released back into the wild.
The DEC says the bear was released Thursday in eastern Rensselaer County. The young black bear was in a tree most of the day around Williams Road and Meadow Drive before it was tranquilized by the DEC.
Officials believe the search for food may have led the bear to the residential neighborhood. He was the latest in a string of recent sightings of bears around the Capital Region.
