SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- Schenectady Police say two men have been approaching homes in the city claiming to be from the water department.

Police tell us since around 1 p.m. Thursday, the men have attempted to enter two different homes, one in the Mont Pleasant area and the other on the North Side of the city, saying they need to test the water.

Schenectady Police tell us the water department is not conducting any water testing operations.

Homeowners should not let the men into their homes and contact police if approached.
