GREENWICH, N.Y. -- The body of a missing 18-year-old from Greenwich has been found in the Hudson River.

State Police confirm Jesse Cale's body was found by a volunteer Thursday afternoon. His body was found near the location he was reported missing off Route 113.

Cale wandered away from family and friends while camping early Saturday morning. State police, forest rangers, volunteers, friends and family had been seen searching since his disappearance.

We received a statement from Cale's grandmother asking for us to respect the family's privacy as they grieve.

State Police say his body was taken to Albany Medical Center, where an autopsy will be conducted on Friday.

The Schuylerville High School community is reacting to the death of Cale.

District officials say Cale attended school in the district since the first grade.

The Schuylerville High principal went on to say, "On behalf of the Schuylerville School District, I want to express my heartfelt sympathy to Jesse’s family at this difficult time. Jesse was an exceptionally well-liked student who was known for his sense of humor, kindness and quick smile. He’ll be truly missed by his fellow students, teachers and all of the other people whose lives he touched.”

The district says it is providing grief counselors and parents can call the student services center for advice on how to handle any grief their child may be experiencing.
