MASSACHUSETTS -- More jobs in Massachusetts are helping to lower the unemployment rate there. That's according to state officials who say the Bay State added more than 31,000 jobs in the first four months of 2012.
The office of Labor and Workforce Development released the numbers today, showing the unemployment rate dropped to 6.3 percent in April, down from 6.5 percent in March. National unemployment stood at 8.1 percent last month.
Officials say preliminary estimates from the federal Bureau of Labor statistics show Massachusetts gaining 2,500 jobs in April.
