WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- An annual assessment of Indian Point's nuclear facility shows it operated safely in 2011. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will hold a public hearing on their inspection today in Westchester County.
The meeting will give the public a chance to speak with plant inspectors and managers one on one and will be followed by a public question and answer session.
According to the NRC, Indian Point Units 2 and 3 met their clearly defined performance criteria last year. The agency issued reports that the end-of-year assessment shows performance indicators for the two reactors at “Green,” which is defined as “very low risk.”
