SCOTIA, N.Y. -- A local woman is one step closer to becoming America's Next Top Model. Laura LaFrate advanced to the final round of Tyra Banks' modeling competition show.
The Scotia native will go up against British model Sophie in next week's finale. This cycle's "British Invasion" pitted American hopefuls against former contestants of "Britain's Next Top Model".
LaFrate calls the opportunity a dream come true, after auditioning for the show three times. She says the show has given her a platform to reach out to others and offer them some of what she's learned along the way.
"Don't hide. And I tell that to everyone even like younger girls, you know everyone thinks the media has one standard of being beautiful and that's not true, everyone has something about them that make them so valuable. And once they find it once they realize it that's when their true beauty comes in and shines out,” said LaFrate.
The finale airs next Wednesday on the CW.
You can see LaFrate sooner than that. She'll be making a local appearance Friday night at the Electric City Couture Fashion Show at Proctors.
