WATERVLIET, N.Y. -- A Watervliet department head is put on administrative leave.
Rosemary Nichols was suspended on Tuesday and the position of deputy general manager of Planning and Community Revitalization will be left vacant, according to city officials.
Three weeks ago, Nichols was also removed as advisor to the city's planning board, which is reviewing a proposal that would put a Price Chopper at the site of St. Patrick's Church. No comment was given as to why.
In regards to this personnel issues, Watervliet General Manager Mark Gleason gave this statement: "Rosemary Nichols has been placed on 60-day administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation related to performance of her official duties as deputy general manager for Planning & Community Revitalization, including the management of various federal and state grants. Because this is a personnel matter and an active investigation, we cannot go into further detail at this time."
We tried to reach Nichols, but she was unavailable for comment.
