SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- The Saratoga and North Creek Railway unveils its plans for the summer season.
For the first time ever, the railway will offer service seven days a week on the scenic line.
The expansion follows another first with the winter schedule. A ski trip on the Gore Mountain Snow Train debuted last year. There will also be a special offer for active duty military members and veterans in honor of Memorial Day.
The general manager for the railway says many are resorting to different means of transportation due to high gas prices.
Saratoga & North Creek Railway General Manager Steve Torrico said, "It is the right time in America for rail to have a big comeback because of how much less fuel it takes to move people. So we think that is really important. We experienced that last winter, with our snow train. We had people from the Capital District here, didn't have to make the drive all the way to north creek, they could just drive to here."
The scenic train ride through the Adirondacks will welcome travelers starting next Saturday, May 26.
