SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- Many Capital Region moms spent their special day getting fit!

The Hudson Mohawk Road Runners Club and Best Fitness held its annual 5K run and walk on Sunday. They said while moms tend to be busy, it's important to support mothers who are committed to fitness, and teaching their children and grandchildren to stay active.

Some moms were also getting ready for next week's CDPHP Workforce team challenge and The Freihofer’s Run For Women, while others took a leisurely stroll through Schenectady's Central Park.

While it was an event only for mothers and daughters, fathers and sons also came out to show their support by volunteering, and greeting their loved ones at the finish line.
