COLONIE, N.Y. -- Several underprivileged kids were able to give their moms gifts Friday, thanks to the local Police Athletic League.

Fifty dollar gift cards were given to 10 children to spend on their moms for Mother’s Day. The special gift came as a surprise to the moms, who were able to spend the money at Dress Barn as part of their "To Mom, With Love" program.

"Whenever we have an opportunity to try to present something for our young people, we try to peruse every opportunity that we can. This is especially great that we're able to include the family members," said Lenny Ricchiuti of the Albany Police Athletic League.

Hundreds of children across the country were able to give gift cards to their mothers through the "To Mom, With Love" program.
