ALBANY, N.Y. -- It's a springtime tradition in downtown Albany as the annual Tulip Festival celebration kicks off.
Every year, Tulip Fest begins with a street scrubbing ceremony. Crowds lined State Street at noon to watch the kickoff to the festival. The ceremony began with a procession in front of the state Capitol.
Some Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts joined women dressed in traditional Dutch clothing in honor of Albany's rich Dutch heritage as they washed and scrubbed State Street.
The 64th annual Tulip Fest celebration continues through the weekend in Washington Park, with music, vendors, and more.
