Spectators gathered along President Obama's route to Nanotech Tuesday afternoon, hoping to get a glimpse of the motorcade. The road was closed when Air Force One touched down to give the President a clear path to his destination. Our Beth Croughan has more.

ALBANY, N.Y. -- "Oh it just makes your heart stop," said Yvonne Capobianco of Albany.

Standing on a corner across from the Nanotech complex, she caught just a glimpse of the presidential motorcade. But it was just enough to catch her excitement.

"A great leader of the world is in one of those cars and I'm not too far away and I'm viewing this. How can this not be thrilling?" the Albany resident explained.

Capobianco joined a small crowd of students, employees and community members.
Some saw what she saw.

"The motorcade came in through a secret entrance type thing. But we couldn't, we just saw the whole motorcade. We couldn't really see anything, but we saw the lights and that was enough for me," described SUNY Albany student Emily Wolfe.

All we spoke with saw it important to brave the rain.

"Because it's once in a lifetime that the President will come to my neighborhood," said Albany resident Lena Tarzia.

Those in the neighborhood standing along Washington Avenue saw the motorcade from a different angle as the convoy came down 90 and sped right by them.

"The security coming by, the lights flashing, the limousines coming through, it was just really neat to feel his presence," said Karla Jamie-Benitez, a UAlbany employee.
