Travel advisories during presidential visit

By: Web Staff

ROAD CLOSURES

A few roadways in Albany will be closed today while President Obama is in the area.

State Police said the closures are necessary to allow the president to have secure travel for his visit to the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering.

The following roads will be closed from noon until 3 p.m.:

  • I-90 from Exit 24 (Thruway) to Exit 4 in both east and west directions.
  • Washington Avenue extension from the Exit 2 (UAlbany) on ramp to Crossgates Mall
  • Fuller Road from Great Dane Avenue to Railroad Avenue

ALBANY INT'L AIRPORT FLIGHTS AND PARKING

Officials say travelers with flights departing from or arriving at Albany International Airport between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. may encounter delays on access roads around the airport during the arrival and departure of Air Force 1. Those traveling during these times are advised to park in the Airport Parking Garage or in the Long Term Parking Lot next to the Parking Garage.

Airport officials say some flights as well as the Airport Shuttle Bus Service from E-Lot may also encounter short delays.

Areas around the airport that are often used by the public to view plane landings and takeoffs will be closed today.
