A change of plans means President Obama won't be headed to Malta on Tuesday. Our C.J. Spang caught up with residents reacting to the news.

MALTA, N.Y. -- It's not everyday the president plans a trip to the area. So when his plans change and a small town is no longer included in the itinerary, there's bound to be some disappointment.

"It's kind of a bummer because we've got one of the biggest tech parks in the world, and he hasn't even looked at it," said one man.

President Obama originally planned a trip to Malta to tour GlobalFoundries, but logistics prevented it from happening. Now he's headed to UAlbany's College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering instead.

"It was nice to maybe have him come to this little town and come through and see the new plant being built over there," said another man. "Working over there for a little while I was hoping he could see the progress being made around here and the jobs being created. So I was kind of disappointed."

"It was interesting. Somebody, the president coming," said a Malta man. "But I think for the town-wise, it would have been nice to get some more excitement around here. But it is a small town, we like to keep it that way."

Even though Malta isn't part of the plan this time, there's still hope the president will come back in the future.

"I still hope he comes this time. Maybe he's just tricking us a little bit, throwing us off and he'll still stop by," one man joked. "So yeah, I'd definitely still welcome him back."
