CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. -- An investigation is underway after a man's body was found floating in the Mohawk River in the Town of Clifton Park.

A boater called Niskayuna police shortly before 4:30 p.m. Wednesday after spotting the body near the Rexford Bridge. Officers responded and determined the body was in the Saratoga County portion of the river, so the sheriff's office responded to the scene and removed the body with the help of the Alplaus Fire Department.

The sheriff's office said the body is that of a white male, at least six feet tall, with a thin build. He was wearing a dark colored knit hat, a dark hooded jacket, blue jeans, and work boots.

Investigators are checking on local missing persons cases as they try to identify the body.

An autopsy is scheduled.
