ONTARIO COUNTY, N.Y. -- A local couple was killed in a car accident in Ontario County.

The County Sheriff's Office reports the crash happened just after 10 a.m. Monday about 30 miles southeast of Rochester in the Town of Phelps.

Officials say George Halbfinger, 65, and his wife, Mary Halbfinger, 66,, both of Buckingham Drive in Schenectady, both died at the scene.

They say George Halbfinger pulled into an intersection when his car was struck broadside by another vehicle.

A second passenger in Halbfinger's car, Judy Young of Phelps, also died in the crash.

There is no word on the condition of the other driver or the cause of the accident.
