ALBANY, N.Y. -- A new walkway at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany is officially open.
The enclosed bridge connects the parking garage to the hospital and officials say it will benefit both employees, patients and their families. The bridge will also be heated in the winter and have AC during the hot summer months.
"Sizeable parking garage behind me, 1,200 car parking garage. We expect about 4,000 people a day to take advantage of this gateway to the hospital. It will certainly shorten their trip into the hospital and get them to where they need to go and in a timely fashion," said Peter Semenza, Executive Director of St. Peter’s Hospital Foundation.
Construction started back in the fall of 2007 and the final phase is expected to be completed at the end of this year.
This bridge was made possible through a $1 million gift made by Trustco Bank and the McCormick family.
