SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- History cams to life during a showing of "Red Tails" at Proctors.
A real life Tuskegee Airman took the stage to speak to the crowd about his experiences in World War II before they took in the movie inspired by him and his fellow servicemen.
Ralph Boyd, 93, fought in Africa and in Europe during the war and made it back home to settle down in Niskayuna. He says that back in those days, African Americans obviously had a hard life, but he and his fellow airmen still wanted to fight for America.
Boyd ultimately ended up serving about eight years in the military before returning to civilian life.
