GREENPORT, N.Y. -- An arrest in Columbia County could crack other bank robbery cases across the state.
The Columbia County Sheriff's office arrested Jonathan Mills, 24. Police say Mills robbed the Bank of Greene County in the Town of Greenport on Monday. They say he walked into the bank, handed the teller a note and then demanded money.
Mills was arraigned Wednesday on robbery and grand larceny charges.
Officials say his arrest is linked to an investigation to a bank robbery down in Saugerties that happened on Tuesday. Police there arrested three suspects.
Ulster County officials then contacted officials in Columbia County and told them they should be looking for Mills in connection to the robbery at the bank of Greene County.
"It was just real good police work. They were aware of our robbery. They were in contact with us. We worked well with them. We had people down there meeting with them. It was a good job with all agencies involved," said Columbia County Investigator Kevin Skype.
There people were arrested in connection with the robbery in Saugerties. Amanda Muhs, 29, Ryan Novick, 31, and John Streb, 27, are all facing robbery charges in connection to the robbery in Saugerties.
Deputies say more arrests are possible as the investigation into other bank robberies across the state continues.
