ALBANY, N.Y. -- Albany County officials are asking the Department of Environmental Conservation to inspect a potential hazardous building.

Officials said a boarded up, abandoned building at 566 Washington Avenue was once a dry cleaners. County Executive Dan McCoy said the building may contain barrels of a chemical known as Perc, that may cause cancer.

The county said the building is under tax foreclosure, along with more than 45 other buildings in the county, and is up for auction in May.

A request has been put into the D.E.C. to investigate the property.
