WILTON, N.Y. -- Police have made an arrest in connection to a car chase that started in Dutchess County and ended in Saratoga County.

According to police, 22-year-old Matthew Ripo's girlfriend told them he tried to run her over and spoke about suicide. Police say Ripo took off, driving on the Taconic Parkway, reaching speeds of 100 miles per hour. He then drove through Albany and Rensselaer counties before getting onto the Northway.

Police say Ripo crashed into trees just south of Wilton and his truck burst into flames. He was taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Charges are pending.
