NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. -- The Monroe woman accused of running a prostitution ring out of a New York City apartment remains in jail.

Anna Gristina was in court Monday, asking to get her $2 million bond lowered. A judge rejected the request.

Gristina’s lawyers argued the bond is unjustly high and that her family can't afford it. However, the judge said another judge acted rationally in setting the amount.

Prosecutors also say the amount is warranted. They say she has the money and mentality to take off.

Gristina has pleaded not guilty to promoting prostitution.
