COLONIE, N.Y. -- The Town of Colonie has won a lawsuit in the case to outsource it's landfill operation.
Albany County Comptroller Mike Conners had filed a lawsuit challenging the agreement, claiming that the town violated the law when it made the agreement without a public referendum. But the New York State Supreme Court disagreed with Conners, finding that the town followed the law when making the agreement to allow a private company to operate the landfill.
The agreement resulted in millions of dollars being paid to the town and became an issue during last year's campaign for town supervisor between Denise Sheehan and Incumbent Paula Mahan, which Mahan ended up winning.
