CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. -- Nearly 20 people are forced out of their homes after an early morning fire destroys an apartment building in Clifton Park.

Fire crews tell us they were called out to the Squire Park Apartments at 27 Squire Lane around 4 this morning where 12 units were on fire, many of them completely engulfed.

Firefighter believe the fire started on second floor, in the middle set of apartments, then spread into attack and moved quickly from there. They also tell us the fire is out, but many of units in the two story building are heavily damaged. But the ones on the south side of the building were salvaged, having mainly smoke and water damage.

Two people were treated at a nearby hospital for smoke inhalation but have since been released. We're also told everyone else managed to get out okay. No firefighters were hurt.

The Red Cross and Saratoga County "after the fire" are assisting the victims. The fire is still under investigation, but officials do not believe it is suspicious.
