NEWBURGH, N.Y. -- Hundreds of kids throughout Newburgh descend on Downing Park, of course, all of them on the hunt for Easter eggs.

Kids lined up to meet the Easter Bunny at the annual event that's been a staple in Newburgh since the early 80s. The main attraction, however, are those prize-filled eggs. Dozens of them divided up and hidden by age group, all of them containing fun surprises.

The hunt was originally scheduled for last Saturday, but unlike most events during this incredibly mild early spring, it had to be rescheduled because of the weather. They couldn't have picked a better day, it is simply gorgeous outside, but the weather's not the only thing beautiful on this day.

Maritza Wilson, Egg Hunt Organizer said, “It brings families and children together, and it's a beautiful service that we provide for the community.”

The Easter egg hunt is sponsored by the Downing Park Planning Committee, Newburgh-New Windsor Optimist’s Club, the Delano Hitch Restoration Fund, and the City of Newburgh Recreation Department.
