ULSTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- A New Paltz man might very well consider himself lucky to be alive.
Mark Thomas, 50, suffered non-life threatening injuries, according to State Police, after he crashed his plane into a horse farm in Kerhonkson.
The crash occurred shortly before 6 p.m. just off of Route 209 near Old Queens Highway.
Thomas was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie.
"The investigation at the scene determined a single occupant in an experimental aircraft that had taken off from an airport in Plattekill, New York, had crashed, struck a tree, with a single occupant suffering minor injuries," said New York State Police Senior Investigator Stanley O’Dell.
The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are now investigating the cause of the crash.
