ALBANY COUNTY, N.Y. -- Most of us have a lot of junk laying around in our basement, but one man made a pretty shocking discovery when he found eight 20 millimeter tank shells from the 1950s in the basement of his home.

Sean Riley found the shells and called the TV show “Sons of Guns” to see if they were valuable. The show told him he should actually be calling police first. He did and Coeymans Police and the New York State Police Bomb squad showed up.

Riley says it was scary, but thrilling at the same time.

"Just the fear of them going off. We got kids in the house. Finding something from 1953, that pretty neat, knowing military history and stuff like that,” said Riley.

Police say that if the shells had somehow gone off, it could have blown up as many as seven of the surrounding houses.
