ALBANY COUNTY, N.Y. -- Attorney Lee Kindlon has resigned his position with the Albany County alternate public defender's office in order to focus on his campaign for district attorney.

Kindlon says the decision has been months in the making and has nothing to do with an inquiry into time sheets by the New County Executive Dan McCoy, since that's something McCoy is doing at all levels of county government.

Kindlon says he's looking forward to transitioning from a full time attorney, to a candidate.

He has worked for the public defender's office since 2007.
