SCHENECTADY COUNTY, N.Y. -- "And they are going to go all the way," said Scotia resident John Reynolds about the Union College men's hockey team.
When asked if he was confident, he responded, "Oh yes, very much so."
Monday, Reynolds proudly displayed his autographed poster. It was a smaller version of what's on display at the Chamber of Schenectady County: Signs of support in a season of firsts for the Union College men's team.
"It's a first regular season and league championships, first NCAA tournament victor and first East Regional championship," explained Chamber of Schenectady County Chair Ray Bleser.
And now, the team's first-ever ticket to the Frozen Four.
"The support that we're getting right now is awesome and hopefully it will help us achieve our goal in winning a national championship," said Union College senior and hockey player Taylor Reid.
A community-wide campaign kicked off Monday, as the team prepares to travel to the tournament in Tampa.
"The window display is just one of many you'll see throughout the week in Schenectady County. Smaller versions of this poster will appear in hundreds of windows throughout the city providing a lasting image of this memorable team and its remarkable run," said Bleser.
While college hockey's biggest stage is in Florida this week, some of Union hockey's biggest fans will be cheering them on in Schenectady.
"There's a lot of different venues that will be showing it everywhere, so, you know, we'll just play it by ear for now. The best seat's gonna be where I'm gonna be," explained Reynolds of where he'll be watching.
