PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The fatal fire in Pittsfield over the weekend has been ruled accidental.
The Berkshire District Attorney's Office said investigators believe the fire on Orchard Street was caused by the improper disposal of smoking materials in the victim's home.
The fire was reported shortly after 4 a.m. Sunday and claimed the life of Claudette Roberts, 59, who lived on the first floor.
The Red Cross is helping at least two adults and a child.
