Hearings scheduled for power line project
NEW YORK STATE -- State utility regulators have scheduled a series of public hearings this month on a proposed electricity transmission cable running from Canada to New York City and Connecticut.
Champlain Hudson Power Express wants to run five inch wide high voltage cables under Lake Champlain, the Hudson River and Long Island Sound. Some sections would also be buried along highways and railroads in the Hudson Valley.
The public hearings start Tuesday in Whitehall, followed by two meetings Wednesday in Catskill and Ravena.
