Schenectady bar owner charged in lottery scam

By: Web Staff

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- A Schenectady bar owner was arrested after police said she scanned about $100,000 worth of lottery tickets at her bar and didn't pay for them.

Donna Walsh, 64, who owns Christy's on Broadway, pleaded guilty to grand larceny on Monday.

Officials said Walsh ran the tickets through a scanner at the bar, essentially scratching them electronically to see if they were winners. Officials don't believe Walsh had any large winnings from the tickets.

Walsh has been released on probation and is due back in court in June.
