HUDSON VALLEY -- Trying to avoid public cell phone conversations or upset children while you're stuck on your train ride into work is now a thing of the past.

As of Monday, the last car on all morning peak trains and the first car on all evening peak trains is set aside for customers who want a quiet ride.

It's an expansion of MTA's CALMute program, which was earlier enacted on some off-peak train cars.

Electronic devices can only be used on quiet cars if they are not creating noise.

MTA says although commuters are allowed to chat quietly, they will enforce their policy.
