POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- "By the powerful name of Jesus may you let justice be served"

Residents in Poughkeepsie gather in support of Trayvon Martin, the Florida teen who was fatally shot by a neighborhood watch captain last month.

Police said the 17-year-old was walking back to a relative's home after picking up snacks at 7-Eleven when he was fatally shot by George Zimmerman. Zimmerman said he acted out of self-defense and has not been charged in Martin's death.

Supporters wore hoodies at the rally, just as Martin did the night he was killed. Folks in Poughkeepsie said people need to come together.

Mae Parker-Harris, Event Organizer said, “I just, I just hope we can make a change in the system and stop some of the injustice. That's mainly what we're here for."

Tron Melton, Event Organizer said, “I just hope that we can get together around the world and start to come together and bridge the gap that seems to be separating us by the races and by the classes in this world."

A number of similar hoodie rallies have been held across the country.
