NEW YORK STATE – There is good news for shoppers looking to save some money. The New York state tax department says starting this Sunday, the four percent state sales tax on clothing and footwear costing less than $110 will be dropped.

Last year, the threshold was $55.

Most local governments in our area will still collect local sales tax.

Shoppers can enjoy the tax break for one year.
