POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) - An investigation into a January house fire that killed three college students in Poughkeepsie was unable to determine the cause.

Fire officials say the fire might have been caused by smoking, other human behavior or electrical devices. They ruled out heating, cooking, lighting and spontaneous ignition.

The January 21 fire started in the rear of the first floor and tore through an off-campus home being rented by Marist College students. All the victims were 21 years old: Eva Block of Woodbridge, Conn., Kerry Fitzsimmons of Commack, and Kevin Johnson of New Canaan, Conn. Johnson was a Dutchess Community College student.

Four people escaped by jumping out windows.
