GUILDERLAND, N.Y. -- The Mega Millions drawing is Friday night, and with it comes a chance to win the largest jackpot in game history -- $540 million.
The jackpot had been at $500 million but increased based on such strong sales.
At the Getty Station on Western Avenue in Guilderland, people have been stocking up on their tickets in an attempt to increase their chances of taking home the jackpot, which is a record in the Mega Millions drawing.
"I had one person this morning spend $80, all at one time," said a store clerk.
"So far I've bought five today; I'll probably buy some more," said a customer. "What would I do if I won? Probably continue to work."
The odds of winning the $540 million jackpot is one in about 175 million.
YNN will have the drawing live at 11 p.m. Friday.
The New York State Lottery's Yolanda Vega joined us to talk about the historic jackpot.
