SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- Schenectady parents are waging a battle to stop the city's last Catholic school from closing its doors. A letter of support has been drafted by parents and parishioners to save St. John the Evangelist School.
They said they are receiving mixed reactions from people in the community. Some believe St. Johns is a lost cause, while others are showing support to save the school.
St. Johns told parents last week that financial issues would cause the school to close in June. Parents said the letter was created to pull people together in faith to save the school.
