After a weekend of robberies in the Collar City, Mayor Lou Rosamilia will announce new law enforcement initiatives developed with Troy Police. The announcement comes after two homicides in the city just this month. Our Megan Cruz reports.

TROY, N.Y. -- The new initiatives had been in the works prior to these recent robberies and fatal shootings. A city spokesperson said it just reinforces the fact that these plans are very much needed.

Just this past weekend, there were two robberies. One happened on Sunday night. Police said two men went into the Sunoco station on Mill Street and threatened to use a gun if the clerk didn't hand over the money. The other robbery happened Saturday at the Hannaford on Second Avenue. Police said no arrests were made in either incident.

As for the two homicides, one was just last week. Phillip McMillan, 17, was the victim of a drive-by shooting. Police said they've located the car, but no arrests have been made yet. McMillan's death is the third homicide this year for the Collar City.

Earlier this month, another man was shot and killed. Shakim Miller, 36, was shot on Ida Street. A suspect is being detained, but he has yet to formally be charged with the shooting death.

For the news conference Monday, Mayor Lou Rosamilia will be joined by Police Chief John Tedesco as well as City Council members and other community leaders. It's scheduled for 2 p.m. at City Hall.
