A man dies after an early morning shooting in Newburgh. Our Christian Farrell has more on the city's latest violent crime.

NEWBURGH, N.Y. -- Another balloon waves in the wind. Another candle takes up residence on the sidewalk. This sidewalk memorial on the corner of Broadway and City Terrace -
much less conspicuous than others in the City of Newburgh. Including the one only a few doors down. Its significance though is just the same. Someone else loses a life in Newburgh.

"He only had one little red spot on the front of his sweatshirt. But when he got up the first time out of the middle of Broadway and started walking towards me - he lifted his shirt, and his whole T-Shirt, the whole front of his white T-Shirt when he lifted his hoodie, was full of blood. That's how I knew he was severely injured," said Newburgh resident Lillian Greene.

According to police the 26-year-old man Lillian Greene attempts to help, unfortunately died.

Now the latest tragedy to strike on the streets of Newburgh according to witnesses took place at about 2:00 Saturday morning. The victim described as desperately trying to stay alive.

"He had a lot of willpower whoever he was because he got up three times to go do whatever he felt he had to do - go home, whatever," said Greene.

Police say the shooting remains under investigation. Meanwhile - some residents say the violence in the city seems to be getting worse.

"Well, it happens often. Just another day. Still have to get through it regardless," said one man who chose not to give his name.

"It's a lot for the police to handle. They're going wild out here," said Greene.
