TROY, N.Y. -- Troy police have detained a suspect after a man was killed in a shooting in the city. Police said they found a South Troy man in his 20s dead after receiving a call about a shooting on Second Street between Madison and Canal.
Witness reports led police to Ida Street, between Second and Third Streets, to follow a suspect who was seen running away from the scene.
The suspect was detained inside 45 Ida Street. However, police have yet to confirm if he is the shooter. Police have recovered a weapon and other pieces of evidence.
"We have no determination at this time as to the number of shooters, as to the number of weapons possibly involved, nor as to the number of gun shots--which through witness reports we do believe were more than one," said Captain John Cooney.
The suspect is being held for questioning.
