TROY, N.Y. -- Jury deliberations will continue Monday in the Troy voter fraud trial. Jurors got the case Friday afternoon, after hearing six weeks of testimony.
Former City Councilman Michael LoPorto, and Rensselaer County Democratic Elections commissioner Ed McDonough, are accused of entering 50 fake absentee ballots in the 2009 working families primary, in an effort to secure that party's line for democratic candidates.
Both face several counts of forgery and filing false documents.
Defense attorneys wanted the charges dismissed, saying there was insufficient evidence to link their clients to the case, but the judge denied that motion.
